I began my career in the field of birth work as a doula in 1997, with the birth of my best friend's daughter. After that, I realized that I wanted to make this my career.
After serving hundreds of families for 10 years, I realized that I wanted to be able to make more of a difference. I chose to go to midwifery school, attending National Midiwfery Institute, and working in a traditional apprenticeship program. During my apprenticeship I had the privilege to learn from Veronica Wagner, Lin Lee and several other very experienced and respected local midwives. I am licensed by the State of California Medical Board, and certified with the North American Registry of Midwives.
I have witnessed the miracle of birth in many ways throughout my career, and feel that every woman is entitled to birth the way that she finds best. And, that birth at home is a beautiful and safe option for low risk women.
